Think about the word or phrase you find yourself using the most right now. What is it, what does it mean, and why has it become part of your everyday vocabulary? Explain when you typically use it and what your choice of this word or phrase might reveal about you.

Response: A word or phrase that I find myself using the most right now is probably “so basically”. It doesn’t really have a big meaning or really any meaning. I don't know why it has become a part of my everyday vocabulary. I typically use it in conversations when explaining what happened or something like that. I normally use it as a sentence starter. I don't know what it could reveal about me. I just have been using it a lot lately. Summary: Today in class we did a vocabulary assignment, we copied definitions and did practice problems . Reflection: I wasn't the biggest fan of this activity. If I'm being completely honest I found it quite boring, while I did feel like I learned a lot.

With 4.5-week grades posting on September 2, reflect on your experience in American Literature so far. What has been going well for you, what has been challenging, and what is one thing you need to improve moving forward?

Response: With 4.5-week grades posting on September 2, my experience with American Literature so far has been good. I have enjoyed what we are learning and I have learned a lot in such a short amount of time. Lots of things have been going well for me so far, not too much has been overly challenging. I would say I'm pretty good at getting work done on time and following directions well. One thing that I think I will improve on moving forward is to do work to learn, not just get it done. Summary: Today we analyzed quotes by Emily Dickson and we tried out best to find the themes and meanings. Reflection: I really liked this activity, I feel like it helped me get better at analyzing and thinking in that way.

which learning method do you enjoy the most? class discussions, worksheet worl. or hands-on activities?

Prompt: I personally prefer hands on activities the most. I like this method of learning because I feel like it really gets me to engage on what I'm learning and actually take the time to learn it. I feel that with worksheets I personally just do the work to get it done and discussion its easy to get lost or zone out. I also think that hands-on activity's are the most enjoyable and fun to be able to do. Summary: Today in class we read another poewm by Emily Dickson and started a project based on the epoem. Reflection: I personally am not the biggest fan or reading poetry bit I learned a lot about how deep it goes when you really dive into it.

In Emily Dickinson’s “I Felt a Funeral, in My Brain,” the speaker experiences a mind that seems to work against her. Sometimes our own thoughts can make a situation feel worse than it actually is. Describe a time when overthinking, worrying, or doubting yourself affected the way you handled a situation. What did you learn from the experience?

Response: There have been a lot of times in my life where overthinking, worrying or doubting myself have affected the way I handled a situation. From multiple of these experiences I have learned to get to know myself, my mind and my body better. This is helpful because it really lets me get to know myself and the way I feel and it really helps me learn how to control myself and know what I need to do in multiple situations. Summary: Today in class we read a poem by Emily Dickson. Reflection: I thought that it was a good poem especially the more it was read there was more meaning the more it was read and it was short and simple.

“How are you different from others”

Response: No two people are the same, everyone is different from one another. I think that that is cool. I think that it is so cool how everyone likes what they like and are still able to get along with one another but sometimes this can cause damage. What are 3 goals you want to achieve this year?

Prompt Response: Three goals that I would like to achieve this year are, meeting more new people, get better at guitar, and get a job. The reason I would like to meet more new people this year is because I want to have a larger support group of people in my life to go to and just to have fun with. I would like to get better at guitar because it is something I am very passionate about, I've played for a few years now and I've improved a lot so I would just like to continue to improve this year. The reason I would like to get a job is because I feel like it will help me both become more independent as well as become more financially responsible. Overall 3 is just a small amount of goals I would like to achieve, there are many more but these are my main three.
